Dear Lt. MaGee:

This letter is to show my dissatisfaction towards your inability to operate your Animal Control responsibilities in a responsible professional way. UPDATE: Officer Juengel was very professional on 5-5-09 when she game to my home.

Example:
I called your office and complained about a person in my neighborhood that lives at 39196 Starview Drive in Big Bear Lake, and that they let their two dogs run loose on the streets and one of the dogs was aggressive to me and my smaller dog. I also told you that those same people had one of their dogs run over by a car and was killed about 2 years ago. The next day your office gave them a warning ticked.

About a week later one of the same dogs is running loose again. I called again and talked to you or a person in your office on Saturday May 2nd 2009. The person assured me that they would send to my house, tomorrow Sunday, a person with a form so I could file a 3rd Party Citation with a possible fine of $265.00. UPDATE FINE: (Officer Juengel says fine is $50.00 to $100.00) I was told they couldn’t tell me the time they would arrive but assured me they would be there Sunday.

I called Animal Control again about 11:00 am on Sunday to confirm the appointment for that day. The lady said yes there is a message about my complaint and I was told a person would come but she could not give me a particular time. I said that’s no problem as long as they come today.

I called again about 3:45 pm and asked if a person was going to come. The young lady said no one was coming because a dog running loose was of low priority and they only hand one person for the large mountain area.

The point is that your apparently poorly trained personal didn’t even have the common professionalism to call me and let me know that Animal Control could not make it to my house. On the 3:45 pm call the woman assured me they do not even guarantee a specific time or day in which a person might arrive at my home.

Second point, and this is very important.
With such a hit and miss way of communicating about a serious complaint, as aggressive dogs deliberately aloud to run loose in a housing and rental community, calls for the revaluation of Animal Control’s management.

Then again I shouldn’t be surprised with poor communicate skills in protecting the Big Bear public because I personally talked this communication problem over with Big Bear Lake Sheriff Garland and his wife Jamie. To help expose these communication problems in Big Bear, the details* of the Garland talks and this letter will appear on the Internet in the near future.

The reason for the details being on the Internet is to expose ambiguous leadership in protecting the so-called big dogs of Big Bear. Like President Obama says, “Change will start from the bottom up and it will take work.” Yes we can.

1. Big Bear Lake County Supervisor Neil Derry’s Chief of staff Jim Erwin, was arrested on suspicion of perjury.
2. With controversy of his own Jerry Lemke resigned as Supervisor Derry’s Big Bear Lake representative. He was replaced by the Big Bear Lake Sheriff’s wife, Jamie Garland.

*“At least she won’t be able to testify against her husband.” Carl said sarcastically.
